Shipping Rate Calculation Visibility adds a Shipping Summary to the Miva admin that provides insight into the information used during shipping rate calculation for a given order. When available, the Shipping Summary displays shipping method and package details captured during rate generation, helping merchants review how a shipping rate was determined. The information displayed depends on the shipping module and carrier response and may vary between shipping methods.
Shipping Summary is only available when shipping visibility data has been provided by the shipping module for the selected shipping method.
Viewing Shipping Details on an Order
- Open Order Processing
- Select an order
- In the Order Charges section locate the applied shipping method
- If shipping visibility data exists, click Shipping Summary
The Shipping Summary dialog opens and displays:
- Shipping Method Details
- Packages
Viewing Shipping Details During Shipping Recalculation
- Open an order
- Select Recalculate Shipping
- Choose a shipping method
If the selected shipping method contains shipping visibility data:
- A Shipping Summary expandable section appears
If visibility data is unavailable:
- The section remains hidden
This allows users to review the shipping details associated with the selected shipping method before applying the recalculated shipping charge.

The Shipping Summary displays the information collected during shipping rate calculation. Available information varies by shipping method, shipping module, and carrier. Shipping Summary information is organized into two sections:
Shipping Method Details
Displays information used to calculate the shipping rate. Depending on the shipping method, this may include carrier messages, informational notices, negotiated-rate availability notices, and other shipping calculation details.
Packages
Displays package information generated during rate calculation, including:
- package dimensions and weight
- package contents
- selected product options (when available)
- item quantities
- package grouping and box-packing results
This information can help explain how items were grouped into packages during shipping rate calculation.
Carrier-Specific Information
The information available in Shipping Summary depends on the shipping module and carrier response. Some carriers provide extensive rate calculation details, while others return only limited information.
For example, UPS may provide negotiated-rate notices, account-related messages, or service-specific information. Other shipping modules may provide package-level details, additional charges, freight-related information, or other carrier-specific calculation data.
