UPS Worldwide Economy

Released with version 10.05.00, the UPS Worldwide Economy shipping method offers users a new shipping method for international deliveries. Worldwide Economy provides cheaper shipping rates than some of the other international UPS shipping methods.

Installation

If stores are using the UPS Developer Kit Module already, there is nothing to install. Worldwide Economy will be available as a shipping option after the 10.05.00 update. For stores not using the module, but wishing to have Worldwide Economy as a shipping option, the module will need to be installed.

Configuration

Duties Paid/Unpaid

You will decide on whether duties should be paid or unpaid for the shipping method. The choice made can drastically change the cost of the shipping method.

To configure this, click on Settings on the left side of the page, and then Shipping Settings. Once in the Shipping Settings screen, click the UPS Developer Kit tab.

Then scroll down to the Default Country of Origin section, and immediately under that drop down is the Worldwide Economy Duties Paid checkbox.

To have duties figured into the cost of shipping, click the box to enable it. To offer shipping without including the duty costs, leave the box unchecked.

Using Worldwide Economy

Mastercarton ID

Whenever you create a new shipment through Worldwide Economy you need to supply a Mastercarton ID.

In order to offer cheaper shipping costs, the products do not get shipped directly from your store to the customer. Instead, they go from your store, to a UPS distribution center in the United States, and then UPS packages them and ships them overseas.

Requirements for Worldwide Economy

• The store must be contracted with UPS.

• The module must be configured with that contracted account.

• The default configuration is Duties Unpaid. The box must be checked in the module settings for Duties to be included in the shipping cost.

• Rate display requirements for Duties Unpaid: the shipment must be to another country, and a single package, with a length of 60 inches or less and a length plus girth (2Xwidth + 2Xheight) that does not exceed 108 inches.

• Rate display requirements for Duties Paid: The shipment must be to another country, and a single package, with a length of 48 inches or less, a length plus girth of 130 inches or less and the weight must not exceed 66 pounds.

HS Tarriff Code

The HS Tariff code, and the country of origin fields, must be added at the global and product level, and should be used if labels are to be generated by the Miva admin. The tariff code can be up to 15 characters long.

To configure this code at the product level, on the product's main page, scroll to the UPS Options section and enter the code in the field.
