Specify Database Information
Posted by Wayne Smith on 08 February 2008 02:58 PM

During the setup process, you are asked to specify a database for the MIVA Merchant system.

You have the option of choosing MivaSQL (which is the default), or MySQL (Native). Only choose MySQL if your Web hosting account includes access to MySQL. You can check with your hosting company if you are not sure.

When using MySQL, MIVA Merchant 5 requires MySQL version 4.1 or greater.

In most cases, you will select the default, MivaSQL. Accept the default connection string, and leave the next three fields (user name, password, and connection flags) blank - they do not apply to MivaSQL.

For those using MySQL, your hosting company should provide you with a user name, password, and connection flags. If they have not already sent the information to you, contact the host's support department for assistance.
