Selecting an FTP program
Posted by - NA -, Last modified by Jen Ferraz on 30 March 2011 03:18 PM

There are three basic types of FTP programs: command line, graphical, and browser-based.

For most hosting accounts, we recommend you use a graphical FTP program, as they are the easiest to set up and use but also have the most features.  We recommend free FileZilla, available for both Windows and Mac users:  http://filezilla-project.org/

Other popular Windows FTP clients are CuteFTP, WS_FTP and SmartFTP. All of them are very easy to use and have a free trial period.

If you are using a Mac, Fetch is available.

Consult your Hosting Account Information Sheet for the correct FTP settings and paths to use with your software of choice.
