Running CGI scripts outside of /cgi-bin/
Posted by - NA -, Last modified by Wayne Smith on 06 June 2014 07:36 AM

If you need to run a CGI program in your normal html area of your site, instead of the dedicated /cgi-bin/ directory for scripts, you'll need to do the following.

Add the following text to a file:

Options +ExecCGI

Then upload that text file to the directory on the server where you want to run the CGI script and rename it ".htaccess". From that point on, the server will know it's okay to run CGI scripts for you in that directory.
