Exporting/Importing Products to a Flat File

Here are some quick instructions for exporting a product list and importing a product list to the store.

Exporting Products - after completing an export of the products you will have a template to fill out to import your product list.
1. Log into the Miva Admin
2. In the left hand menu find and click the plus sign '+' next to 'Utilities' to expand the menu.
3. Find and click the plus sign '+' next to 'Export Data' to expand the menu.
4. Find and click on the link for 'Export Products To Flat File'
5. Majority of the time you will want to use the following settings while exporting:
If File Exists: Replace File
Email File To: fill in your email address that way you don't have to dig into the server to get the file.
File Delimiter: Tab
AND check mark the box for 'Export Field Names as Header'
Everything else you can leave default.
6. Click the 'Export' button and you will receive the exported product list in your email.

You can use any spread sheet program to open and edit the columns of data. Once you have update the product file you can save it and than import it back into the store following these steps.


Importing Products
1. Log into the Miva Admin
2. In the left hand menu find and click the plus sign '+' next to 'Utilities' to expand the menu.
3. Find and click the plus sign '+' next to 'Import Data' to expand the menu.
4. Find and click on the link for 'Import Products From Flat File'
5. Check mark the box for 'First Line of File is a Header Row' and click the 'Upload' button.
6. A pop-up window will open. Check mark the box for 'Overwrite' and click the 'Browse' button.
7. A pop-up window will open. Find your product file, select it, and click the 'Open'.
8. Click the 'Upload' button to send the file to the server. The pop-up window will close.
9. You will see the path filled in now in the admin and you are set to click the 'Next' button.
10. Every column should be filled in for you but you can double check it by opening your product file and comparing the two.
11. All of the other settings can be left at default, or if you want you can enable logging and have it emailed to you, otherwise you can click 'Import'.
