Encryption Keys

The main purpose of the Encryption Keys tab is to use the Encryption Key Wizard.

To access the Key Wizard, from the Store Settings screen, click the Encryption Keys tab .

The Encryption Key Wizard is a utility that helps you stay compliant with PCI-DSS standards for storing payment information.

You can use the wizard to:

  • Enable encryption in your store. When you enable encryption, the payment information on new orders will be encrypted.
  • Encrypt payment information on existing orders (migrate).
  • Delete payment information from existing orders (archive).
  • Replace your old encryption keys with new ones. The PCI-DSS standards require you to create a new encryption keys every 365 days.

Creating an Encryption Key

You create encryption keys with the Encryption Key wizard. To access the wizard, from the Encryption Keys tab, click the Add Encryption Key button in the top right corner.

When the wizard opens, click the Next button , then follow the prompts the wizard gives.

Deleting an Encryption Key

To delete an encryption key, select the key from the batch list, then click the three button drop down menu. In the menu, select Delete Record(s).

Caution

You cannot delete any encryption key if there are orders with credit card information which was encrypted with that key. To check for orders with the current key, click the key in the batch list, then click the Orders tab on the page that opens.
