Price Groups Global Settings
Numerous Price Groups, independent of their types, have several common settings, including:
Name/Eligibility/Type
This part is pretty straightforward. The Name refers to the specific name you give a Price Group, like "Customer Loyalty Discount" or "10 Percent Discount".
The Eligibility setting is how you determine the eligibility for the Price Group you're creating. Your choices are:
- Coupon Only: Only customers with a coupon (code) get the discount.
- Specific Customers: Only specific customers will receive the discount. You'll define this list later.
- All Logged-in Customers: A customer must have an account and be signed in to receive the discount.
- All Shoppers: This discount is available to all customers.
Finally, the Type section is where you choose the sort of Price Group you wish to create. For example, "Add-on Discount" or "Buy X Get Y."
Basket/Qualifying Restrictions
Next, you choose the basket/qualifying restrictions. There are several options in this section.
Restrict to Qualifying Subtotal
The customer qualifies for the discount if the total value of qualifying products in their basket falls within a certain price range. You select the qualifying products after you establish the Price Group.
This uses the basket subtotal, which is the value of merchandise in the basket, before tax, shipping, and any other related charges.
Restrict to Qualifying Quantity
The customer receives the discount if they have a certain number of qualifying products in their basket. They can mix and match your qualifying items, including multiples of the same item. You choose the qualifying products after you create the Price Group.
Restrict to Qualifying Weight
The discount is applied if the total weight of qualifying items in their basket falls within a certain weight range. This discount only considers the weight of the qualifying items. You select the qualifying products after you create the Price Group.
Restrict to Basket Subtotal
The discount is applied if the subtotal of their basket (the value of all products in the basket before tax, shipping, or other charges are added) falls within a certain dollar amount. This option looks at all the items in a customer's basket, not just the qualifying items.
Restrict to Basket Quantity
The discount is applied if the number of items in the customer's basket falls within a certain quantity. You decide the quantity required for a discount.
Restrict to Basket Weight
The discount gets applied if the combined weight of all the items in the customer's basket falls within a certain weight range.
Price Group Settings
The Basket Description/Display Discount in Basket fields let you give your customers extra information about their discounts. They affect the Shopping Basket and all checkout screens (Order Details, Shipping/Payment Selection, Payment Information, and Invoice).
You will also set a Priority for the price group and Not Valid Before/Not Valid After dates for the group.
Exclusions
Finally, in the Exclusions section, determine if the Price Group discount can be combined with other price groups. Clicking the Configure Exclusions button displays a list of all the Price Groups.
Clicking the Edit icon next to the Exclusions column presents a dropdown with four options. You can also select multiple price groups and use the bulk actions capability to configure exclusions across numerous price groups. The options are:
- Allow Combination: This allows the discount of this Price Group to be combined with another Price Group's discount.
- Exclude for Same Basket: This prevents the discount created by this Price Group from being combined with another Price Group's discount.
- Exclude for Same Item Group: An Item Group isn't something you can select yourself. It's one or more items in a customer's basket that the Miva software groups together temporarily as it tries to apply Price Group discounts.
- Exclude for Same Item: This allows numerous discounts to be applied to the same basket, but not for the same item.
