Sitemaps Overview

In the Miva admin interface, there are two distinct types of sitemaps available: HTML sitemaps and XML sitemaps. While they share similarities, their functions differ significantly.

HTML Sitemaps

An HTML sitemap serves as a roadmap for your customers, providing a general overview of your online store. Customers can access your store's HTML sitemap by clicking the 'Sitemap' link that is typically located in the bottom navigation section of your website. This type of sitemap can be personalized by editing its SMAP page.

XML Sitemaps

Similar to its HTML counterpart, an XML sitemap provides a comprehensive overview of your store's pages. However, its primary purpose is to serve as an indexing tool for search engines such as Google. Having your XML sitemap get indexed by a search engine vastly increases the likelihood of customers seeing links to your store when conducting searches on that platform.
