Legacy Price Groups

Legacy Price Groups

The Legacy Price Group feature allows users of the Miva admin platform to utilize the same kind of Price Groups that were available in earlier versions.

Caution

This type of Price Group was primarily added to Miva for backwards compatibility and is not recommended for new merchants or new discounts. The principal two types that the Legacy discount enables are:

  • Markup from Cost
  • Discount from Retail

Creating a Legacy Price Group

To create a Price Group, select the Marketing header and then the Price Groups tab. Click the Add Price Group button in the upper right corner. In the dialog box that appears, give your Price Group a name. Decide the Eligibility for the Price Group you are creating. The options are:

  • Coupon Only: Only customers with a coupon (code) get the discount.
  • Specific Customers: Only a specific list of customers will get the discount. This list is created at a later stage.
  • All Logged-in Customers: A customer must have an account and be signed into their account to receive the discount.
  • All Shoppers: The discount is available to all customers.

Finally, select Legacy in the type field.

Setting Discount Settings and Price Group Settings

In the Discount Settings section, select your Pricing. The options are:

  • Retail: Customers in this group will see the normal retail price.
  • Cost: Customers in this group will see the price inputted in the cost field for the product.
  • Discount from Retail: Offer customers a percentage discount from the product price.
  • Markup from Cost: Charge customers a markup percent from the product’s cost field.

In the Price Group Settings section, set a Priority for the price group and Not Valid Before/After dates for the group.

Note

In terms of Priority, if multiple discounts are being applied to the order, the higher priority discount is applied first. For instance, a priority 100 discount would be applied before one with a priority of 97. A discount with a priority of zero (0) would be applied last. If the priority of every price group is set to zero, the groups would be applied in the order in which they were created.

Exclusions

Finally, set up your desired Exclusions. For additional information on configuring exclusions, click here. After you've configured the Exclusions, click Save to create the Price Group.
