Upsales Overview
The term 'upsale' in Miva refers to the products and discounts a business offers to its customers during the checkout process. These are optional for the customer to add to their existing order, or decline and proceed with their initial order.
There are two primary steps involved in the upselling process:
- Add the upsale product. This does not mean creating a new product in Miva. Instead, it involves creating an entry for an existing product in the store such that it prompts the system to offer this product to customers during checkout. It's worthy of note that creating this entry does not alter the product in any way but you can control the time the customers would be offered the item during checkout by selecting Display and Upsale Options.
- Link this upsale product to one or more products in your store that it complements. For instance, if you have a 'shirt' product and you want to offer a matching 'hat' to customers who purchase the shirt during checkout, you will create an upsale entry for the hat and link it to the shirt. Thus, any customer who purchases the shirt gets offered the hat during checkout.
