Marketing Settings
Discounting Options
Discounting Options are settings that enable you to regulate the behavior when a customer’s order gets disqualified for a discount due to a return. For instance, suppose a Price Group was set for free shipping on orders over $100. If a customer purchases worth $100 and gets free shipping but then returns an item that reduces the total order cost to less than $100, the order would not qualify for free shipping.
Recalculate Discounts for Returns
This setting allows you to control when discounts are adjusted due to returns:
- Never: The discount never gets adjusted regardless of changes in the order by the RMA.
- When Authorized: Recalculations for the discounts are made immediately you authorize in the Edit Order screen.
- When Received: Recalculations for the discounts are done as soon as you select Received in the Edit Order screen.
Order Total Handling
This setting allows you to control how discounts get adjusted due to a return:
- Allow Recalculation of Discounts to Increase Order Total: If selected, it allows the possibility of a customer owing you money due to a disqualified discount from a return.
- Prevent Increase in Order Total with Adjustment Item: If selected, the customer’s total order cost will never increase even if a return disqualifies their discount.
- Prevent Increase in Order Total with Adjustment Charge: If chosen, the customer’s total order price does not increase even if a returned charge disqualifies their discount.
- Adjustment Item Code/Adjustment Item Name: The text entered in these fields gives explanations for the discounting adjustments on the Edit Order screen.
Upsale and Discounts
You can set how upsale items can either be part of discounts or as qualifying items for discounts.
Default Exclusion for New Price Groups
This setting allows you to establish the default exclusion for new price groups:
- Allow Combination: This lets the discount of this Price Group combine with the discount of another Price Group.
- Exclude for Same Basket: This option prevents the discount of this Price Group from combining with that of another Price Group.
- Exclude for Same Item Group: An Item Group is a group of one or more items in a customer’s basket that Miva software temporarily groups together to apply discount Price Groups.
- Exclude for Same Item: This allows multiple discounts to apply to the same basket, but not for the same item.
