Navigating the Admin

Navigating the Admin

The Miva admin has been designed to be navigated easily and intuitively. The main navigation features are the Navigation Pane along the left side of the screen, and the Sticky Header, located at the top of the page.

Navigation Pane

On the left is the Navigation Pane. At the top of the pane, near the store name, is a drop down that shows your store(s) and allows you to navigate to a different store admin and create a new store.

Under that are five highly used functions: Catalog, Customers, Order Processing, Marketing and Reports. Further, is the header for User Interface settings, which are mostly developer functions. Last, on the very bottom of the pane, is the Settings header, where settings for Domain, Store, User Management, Shipping and Payments are found.

Sticky Header

The Sticky Header is always found at the top of the admin screen, regardless of the page you are on.

From left to right, across the Sticky Header are the following:

  • Miva Logo: Clicking on the Miva logo always takes you to the home page.

  • Search: Searches the entire admin.

  • History Manager: The icon that looks lke a clock face with a counter clockwise arrow. Clicking this opens the History Manager.

  • Bookmarks: The icon that looks like a bookmark opens the Bookmark Manager.

  • Preview: Clicking the icon that looks like an eye opens a preview of your store in a new tab.

  • User Settings Menu: Clicking on the dropdown arrow next to your user name opens the User Settings Menu.

Search

The search function in the Miva admin is predictive, so that results are suggested as soon as you start typing in the Search field. The predictions are narrowed with each successive letter typed. In addition, the search function displays tabs across the top of the results box to further narrow results.

Show/Hide Results

The search function also allows users to set preferences for Search, including the ability to hide inactive products. To do this, on the search results page, click the More icon (three dots), which opens the Settings box. In that box, check the results you want to be hidden or shown.

Those settings include:

  • Affiliate Results

  • Attribute Templates

  • Category Results

  • Page Results

  • Product Results

  • Order Results

  • Upsale Results

History Manager

The History Manager is just like the history of a web browser; it keeps track of where you have been in the Miva admin and allows you to revisit those pages with a click.

Clicking History Manager in the title bar opens a History Manager dialog box with added options including the ability to search, change the box view and columns, clear the history or just remove specific records.

Bookmarks

The Bookmarks functionality works like bookmarks in a webs browser, allowing you to bookmark pages you visit frequently.

Clicking Manage Bookmarks in the title bar opens the Bookmarks Manager dialog box. It behaves just like the History Manager does.

Preview

Clicking the Preview tab opens the current storefront in a new browser tab.

Note

If you are working on a specific product in the Miva admin, clicking Preview opens that product page.

User Settings

Clicking the dropdown next to your user name opens the User Settings menu, which allows you to edit your profile, contact Customer Support, check which version of the Miva admin you are using and log out of the admin.

Clicking Edit Profile in the menu allows you to edit your user details, change your user settings, set or change your user preferences, change your password or manage the SSH authentication if it is used.
