Navigation Sets
Navigation Sets are how you build customized navigation menus for your website. The most common uses for them are the primary navigation menu for your store, main menus, secondary menus, and footer menus.
A number of navigation sets are already configured for your store, depending on the theme you are using. And you can change existing sets, or create new ones, in the Miva admin, without needing to know code.
Accessing Navigation Sets
To access your site's navigation sets, click User Interface>Theme Components and then click the Navigation Sets tab.
Next, click the Navigation Set you wish to edit. On the page that opens, click the Navigation Items tab.
In the Batch List that opens, you will see existing Navigation Items.
Items can be made active or inactive by clicking the slider in the Active column.
Navigation items can be edited by clicking the name of the item you wish to update.
Adding a Navigation Item
Navigation Items can be added by clicking the Add Navigation Item button.
In the box that opens, give the Navigation Item a name, and then click the Link drop down to decide where the item will navigate to. The options are URL, Product, Category or Page.
Complete the remaining fields, which vary by the option selected, and click the Add button. To save the current Navigation Item and add another, click the Add+ button.
Adding a Child Navigation Item
To add a Child Navigation Item, from the Navigation Set batch list, select a Navigation Item, and then click the Add Child Navigation Item button.
The rest of the process is the same as explained in the Adding a Navigation Item section above.
Note
Navigation Sets support up to three levels of sub categories.
Navigation Set Templates
In the Miva admin, each Navigation Set is its own template. That template code can be edited.
After selecting a Navigation Set to edit, rather than clicking into the Navigation Items tab, make sure you are in the Navigation Set tab.
You can change the "layout" of the Navigation Set by clicking the Layout drop down. The options are: Single Column, Horizontal Drop Down, Horizontal Mega-Menu and Vertical Fly-Out. These settings allow you to change the look and feel of your navigation set, but additional adjustments may be needed for your particular theme.
